Jase Harper

Jase Harper is a Melbourne (formerly Brisbane) based, comics artist, animator, painter and writer, with work appearing widely in both commercial and underground publications. For his contributions to Australian comics, Harper has won Ledger Awards in 2004 and 2005 (including for Comic of the Year).
As well as being an artist and writer, Harper was co-editor and publisher (with Jules Faber), of Queensland anthology comic Sporadic #1-5, which anthologised work largely from Australia's animation community. His comics work has also featured in The Ink, Eat Comics, Pirates, Fist Full of Comics and Phatsville (including covers for the last two) and the book Operation Funnybone .
Harper is well known for children's comic Big Fun Mega Happy Pet Land, focusing on two pet shop rabbits, Dice 'N' Stu, which featured regularly in Mania magazine, during 2006. He is currently collaborating with Melbourne based writer, Jen Breach, on children's comics for various publications.
His online autobiographical comic, Mind Fidgets, has also appeared in print in Harper's own regular anthology comic, Guh! (4 issues to date), along with his many other comics and sketches. Other Harper only books, include Tweet Monsters (2010).
Recent exhibitions featuring Harper's paintings and artwork include Cluster: an Artshow of 50 Artists at the Joshua Levi Galleries, 16th April, 2010, Get Trucked annual trucker hat exhibition, The Paper Lifeboat (part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, 2009) and Boxed In at Nine on Seven Artspace, 22nd February - 17th March, 2010.
