James Parnell Spears is an American conservator and father of Britney Spears, as well as the father of producer Bryan Spears and singer Jamie Lynn Spears, and a former building contractor. Early life and family In 1976, he married Lynne Spears. Jamie and Lynne Spears have three children: son Bryan Spears and daughters Britney Spears and Jamie Lynn Spears. Conservatorship of Britney Spears In 2008, a Los Angeles court granted him a conservatorship of daughter Britney following her admission to a psychiatric hospital. At a hearing in November 2020, Britney requested her father's conservatorship be suspended and stated through her attorney that she is afraid of him. Los Angeles superior court judge Brenda Penny declined to suspend Jamie's conservatorship but did grant Britney's request to appoint the corporate fiduciary Bessemer Trust as a co-conservator. |
