Jamie Calon (born in 1969) is a Canadian athlete, designer, inventor, entrepreneur, and founder of 54blue, a design, marketing and software development company. Personal Calon was born and raised in Calgary, Canada. He was an active athlete in many sports but excelled in the sport of cycling. Calon became a national champion in his early years in the velodrome, and he holds national level medals across three disciplines of cycling: road cycling, track cycling, and mountain biking. He lives with his wife, on a small horse ranch in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Career and education After a full career in sport, Calon transitioned from being an athlete to an inventor. Calon went back to school at Mt. Royal University to learn the physics needed for the project. He dropped out citing lack of professor knowledge/vision, and during this period, he found his partner in the VPP project, James Klassen. Klassen's natural understanding of physics and Calon's clear vision of what the rider needed, was the ideal combination to produce the VPP suspension concept. Cited as the foundation of modern bicycle suspension, the product, under the brand "Outland Bikes," was a failure but the invention, a success. The patent was purchased by Santa Cruz Bikes and turned into a product that would be the gold standard for modern mountain bikes. From 1998 - 2006, Calon started and ran Division54, a sales agency contracted to Oakley, Billabong. In 2001, Calon started 54blue to produce power sports TV commercials for the likes of Honda and Suzuki. During this period, Calon pivoted the agency to focus on Trade Marketing. Finding operational issues in many of 54blue's Clients, he spawned a new company, 54blue Interactive Inc. Along with his partner Greg Stewart, Calon looked to bring a process in the form of cloud computing to the brands. Producing the custom platform "toolbox" for Oakley Inc. 2012, Calon and Stewart launched the Regulator Project with the goal of producing a full feature, modern, Marketing Operational Management SaaS platform. In 2016 Calon and his partners closed the beta on Regulator. It is now in market.
