James Whittle

James Coan Whittle M.S., L.Ac., born 3/30/1970 in Winston Salem, North Carolina, is a licensed acupuncturist and a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine. He has studied with acupuncturists, physicians and healers from many medical paths, including Dr. Viet Dzung Tran, protege of the late Dr. Nguyen Van Nghi and Margaret Fields Kean. He is the founder and owner of the Blue Ridge Clinic in Asheville, North Carolina, which opened in 2003. He is a graduate of the internship program at The Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shanghai, China.
He completed a clinical Master's degree in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and acupuncture at Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington and did his undergraduate work at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is licensed (#238) to practice acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine in North Carolina.
Recently James was invited to teach cancer nurses at the annual Oncology Nursing Society in Seattle about integrating Chinese medicine with cancer care in U.S. hospitals. He specializes in pain conditions, women’s health including infertility and cancer.
His articles in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture have appeared in the Asheville Citizen Times, New Life Journal, Acupuncture Today and other publications.

In 1996, James completed a month long, in residence, yoga teacher training program in Yogaville, Va. He is a certified yoga teacher and meditator with 15 years experience teaching qigong and stress reduction techniques.
