Jacquelyn Sylvan

Summary:
Jacquelyn Sylvan, an American author is one of the flagship authors of Quake, the Young Adult division of Echelon Press Publishing. Her first novel, Surviving Serendipity was released in 2008 and is available in print around the world.
Life, In General:
Jacquelyn is a 1998 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School, and a graduate of Northampton Community College. She currently lives in Palmerton, PA with her husband Martin, a very lively german shepherd mix named Sirius, and two cats Neville and Hermione who have personalities unto themselves. Her parents reside in her childhood home, located in Saylorsburg, PA. Jacquelyn has no siblings.
Influences:
Jacquelyn's favorite authors include (but certainly are NOT limited to) Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, and Diana Gabaldon. Reading and writing are two of the most important things in her world. The sheer volume of books that she has read coupled with the tangle of stories in her head waiting to be unleashed has made this author extremely versatile. Her first published work, Surviving Serendipity ventures into the realm of another world, with dragons, blue men, pegasus and so much more. The style of the writing in this novel is brisk, and easily related to both younger readers and mature audiences alike. Current literature lacks strong female characters, and in Sylvan's own words "I wrote the book I most wanted to read." In other words, she was tired of reading about the hero and the heroine. It was time for a solo heroine. To quote the author again: "Damsels in distress are SO last season."
In total, Jacquelyn has written 6 full length novels, and numerous short stories. Her short story Cait Sidhe was published in The Heat of the Moment; which was a collection of works by various authors. The proceeds from sales of this collection of short stories went directly to help families who lost everything in the San Diego Wildfires last year.
Jacquelyn also headlines a daily blog, which captures some of the more entertaining moments of her day to day life and enthralls most readers with her vivid descriptions and witty choices of words. To subscribe to this blog, visit her website www.sylvaniamania.com.
