V. Rev. Msgr. Jacob Porathur a great visionary and philosopher is presently Vicar General, the vice president of the Eparchial Economic Council in Diocese of Kalyan.</font> Jacob Porathur Msgr. Jacob Porathur, a great visionary and philosopher, is the trustee of Karunya Trust and all other Trusts of the Diocese of Kalyan. He is the pioneer in the field of Social work in the slum areas of Mumbai. The activities started by Msgr. Jacob Porathur in the various slum pockets still remain as land mark on the process of empowerment. He was born at Kottapady, Trichur on 25 th June 1951. He completed his high school education at Parapur. Msgr. Porathur joined the seminary in the year 1969, and did his ecclesiastical studies at St Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Kottayam. He was ordained priest on 5 th March 1978 at home parish kottapady by His Excellency Mar Joseph Kundukulam and served as assistant vicar and vicar at various parishes in Kerala. During this period he was appointed as the State Director of Christian Life Community of Kerala. In the year 1987 he was deputed as the Chaplain to the Malayalee Catholics in Mumbai. When the Diocese of Kalyan was erected he was appointed the first Finance Officer of the Diocese. Simultaneously he was entrusted with the pastoral care of many parishes of the Diocese. Presently Msgr. Porathur is the Vicar General, Vice President of Pastoral Council, General Director of Websites, General Director of Social Communication and spokes person of the Diocese of Kalyan.
