Jack Knoxville

Jack Augustus-Cash Knoxville (born January 26, 1979) is a transgender, [http://www.newstalk987.com/2015/09/28/transgender-named-jack-knoxville-takes-on-madeline-rogero-in-write-in-campaign/ write-in candidate for City Mayor of Knoxville, TN (2015)]. He is an activist, writer, entrepreneur, public speaker, internet marketing specialist, and former web designer.
Early Life
Originally from Middletown, NY, Jack spent much of his early years growing up in Myrtle Beach, SC, until his teen and early adult years; Which he spent living out of his backpack. During that time he focused on observing the world around him, as an example for how to be or not to be as a human. He took special interest in standing up for victims of social injustices, especially within the homeless community and has worked tirelessly since to fight for the rights of others across the U.S..
Jack got started in Philanthropy at the age of 17, when he heard about a friend whose family was living out of their van, and organized his first fundraiser. Inspired by his own experience with being homeless, Jack pulled together several popular local bands and held a benefit, where he successfully raised over $400; getting his friend's family into a modest apartment. Bitten by the bug, Jack has since dedicated his life to helping out wherever needed.
In 2001, Jack Knoxville started an organization called Free2Be, in Charleston, SC. (Free2Be was an organization whose mission was to fight violence and hate crimes through education and awareness.) By partnering with other organizations through-out SC, Jack was successful in getting rid of statewide sodomy laws. His efforts were recognized through the Southern Poverty Law Center, and the late Rosa Parks. Within 3 months, Free2Be boasted 140+ members statewide. The organization closed their doors in 2003.
Activist
Jack has worked with the L.A. Homeless Services Coalition, The United Way, the Red Cross, Missing and Exploited Children, MTV, ABC, and the urban housing offices of Charleston, SC, as well as many other organizations to improve the quality of life of those around him.
Jack was an organizer and participant, on the front lines of the demonstrations in Los Angeles to repeal proposition 8 and major speaker during the occupy movement in Myrtle Beach.
Entrepreneur
Jack is the former owner of sites such as "Queerd", "Queerdlife", "The Home Grown Zine", "Punk Web", "Cyber Pimp Wear" & "East Coast Poet"
EastCoastPoet.com (2001-2012) attracted thousands of followers and resulted in the publication of 5 books.
The Homegrown Zine (circa 2011) attracted over 700,000 hits in just 45 days of launch as well as the attention of several record labels.
Jack's current company, Smoky Mountain Media Group, is based in Knoxville, TN and handles design, media, and marketing.
Regardless of the outcome of the elections, Jack continues to promote peace and working to help others learn to effectively communicate and work together.
