Jack Hoban

Jack Hoban served as a US Marine Corps Captain and is a "subject matter expert" for the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP). He is a long-time practitioner of martial arts and Shihan (senior instructor) in the Bujinkan system under headmaster Masaaki Hatsumi in Japan. He became fully qualified as a senior Bujinkan instructor by passing the 5th degree black belt test in 1985. He received a 10th dan in May 1996.
He was also a close associate of the late Robert L. Humphrey, noted conflict resolution specialist and author of Values For A New Millennium. Hoban's Living Values and Ethical Warrior Programs are inspired in great degree from Professor Humphrey's Life Value theory.
Hoban's approach to teaching martial arts in context of the universal human values is unique. He has published three books and four videos on the martial arts and has written numerous articles on the martial arts, ethics, and cross-cultural relations. He is also a popular lecturer throughout America and the world on the subject of warriorship and values.
Hoban is a 25-year business veteran in the areas of information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing (BPO) in healthcare and other industries. He is president of Resolution Group International(RGI), a professional training organization created to address the needs of military, law enforcement, peacekeeping, and security organizations, and international corporations.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Villanova University and an MBA from National University in San Diego. He is married to Yumiko Hoban, an anthropologist who publishes an international web site on cross-cultural child-rearing. They live at the Jersey Shore with their two sons.
Hoban is also a musician. He is known for his unique sound, both vocally and on the guitar. He writes a wide range of music from stirring ballads to the funky, bluesy music of his band, Rogues on the Run. Formed in 1992, the Rogues specialize in traditional blues and original contemporary blues/jazz music. They are currently playing the Jersey Shore, and have opened for BB King.
Previously, Hoban was co-founder, with Gene McCormick, of Jersey Blue (with Bernard Purdie on drums). Before that he was a member of the Philadelphia-based Windfall, who opened for KISS.
