IT Efficiency

IT Efficiency (of Efficient IT) is the institution of corporate policies based on actionable results from findings during a review of the efficieny (or inefficiency) of the company's Information Technology (IT) processes and techniques (of lack, thereof).
As technology has become more critical to the business function, business has become more demanding, requesting new and better technology to help push the business forward. To provide a high level of service, the IT organization has rolled out new technology at a brisk pace, without the chance to develop policies and procedures beforehand to ensure that technology was being deployed and utilized efficiently. In doing this, technology waste has accumulated in most businesses.
The new push for IT Efficiency (which includes sustainability, greening of IT, resource management, and energy efficiency) is causing businesses to review the accumulated waste and seek to eliminate them through new processes and solutions.
