Isagani Abon (October 18, 1978-) is a Filipino martial artist. Abon serves as the chief instructor and over-all coordinator of Rapido Realismo Kali directly under Punong guro Henry Espera. He was born in Malabon, Philippines as the youngest of seven children, and hails from a family of fighters: His father Leonardo Abon Sr. is a former professional boxer, his mother a practitioner of Filipino wrestling and his grandfather is a veteran of the second world war. All are practitioners of Kali/Escrima. He holds the ranks of Guro in Rapido Realismo Kali, Tagapagsanay in Orabes Heneral Eskrima, Tagapagturo in Arnis Defense Silat, 2nd degree black belt in Karate, and 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo. Guro Isagani Abon is a proponent of simple and direct attacks and defense, and strongly advocates the concept of "martial mentality" in his teachings. Currently, he heads the Navotas Kali Warriors Club , a group he established which specializes in Filipino bladefighting. |
