IPlum

iPlum is a mobile app for obtaining a U.S. phone number on a mobile device across the world. It can be used for calling and messaging with other U.S. or global mobile or landline numbers with or without iPlum app.
History
iPlum is a California based company. The iPlum app was launched in Q4, 2015. iPlum relies on Mobile data or Wi-Fi to make calls and send text messages without using carrier minutes.
Architecture
It operates in a secure zone, isolating messages, call logs and multi-media attachments from the default location on the device. The authentication and encryption are automatic for users. Data at rest and in transit is secured by AES 256 encryption.
With its release, iPlum can be used to send pictures, video, audio, and documents in certain formats. A separate U.S phone number can be attached to the mobile phone or tablet, with calling to any mobile phone, and the ability to reach any phone number anywhere in the world.
Bandwidth use
It is engineered with low bandwidth usage for message delivery and call completion on a slow connection. Calls are transferred between Wi-Fi and wireless data channels.
Platforms
iPlum is a mobile app available for Apple iOS and Android devices.
