An internet speed test is the testing of a device's internet speed. Measurements include the device's upload speed, download speed, and . Tools for testing includes Speedtest.net, Fast.com by Netflix or Google's testing tool. Performing Principle Measuring latency Latency is the time spent on transferring requests data to the server, some testing platforms, like Speedtest.net first finds the closest server. The tool sent a ping to the server, and measure the time taken, the elapse is usually measured in milliseconds. Measuring download and upload speed After latency testing, the client device will attempt to download a sample data piece from the server. After the download test is complete, the server will perform an upload test, which let the cilent sends datas back to the server, during those tests, there may be multiple connections opening at once to make the test result more accurate. Download and upload speed is usually measured in megabit per seconds. Results Results from testing may not be completely accurate, in addition to the speed of Wi-Fi or Mobile network, the location of client, server's busyness, other connections to the same internet are examples of factors that could affect the result.
