International Drug Mart

International Drug Mart is a family-run pharmacy chain based in Chennai, India serving consumers in that country and worldwide. It operates pharmacies under the Dadha Pharma and International Drug Mart names, and also operates an online pharmacy.
History
International Drug Mart was part of Dadha Pharma Private Ltd, and was headed by Mr. Mohandchand Dadha, a pharmacist and businessman. In 1997, Sun Pharmaceutical, one of India's largest companies and the country's third largest pharmaceutical manufacturer, bought Dadha Pharma.
After that transaction was completed, Dadha’s son, Pradeep Dadha, became head of the retail pharmacy operation which was separated from the prior company.
Operations
In India, it operates and services many retail drug stores that operate under both the “International Drug Mart” and “Dadha Pharma” names. The firm’s stores serve local consumers, and the Indian government limits the prices that pharmacies charge for medications, both prescription and over-the-counter.
In 2003, the firm added an online pharmacy called International Drug Mart. The online pharmacy mainly serves European and American consumers. Many of the drugs it sells to foreign customers are generic versions. This pharmaceutical business has been called one of Chennai's "most impressive (business) success stories." However, Cyveillance has called International Drug Mart "illegal" and "a rogue online pharmacy that sells prescription drugs without a prescription from a medical professional".
