International Be a Gentleman day

International Be a Gentleman day (BaG day) held the inaugural event on 22nd February 2011. An event initiated by the international group Today's Gentleman, its purpose is to encourage courtesy, respect and good manners in society. The inaugural event attracted broad media interest throughout Australia, most notably with the Sun Herald in Sydney, and coverage internationally through The Good Men Project in the United States, Being Manly blog in Canada, and the Authentic Communications blog in the Netherlands. Whilst the inaugural event attracted participation from over 2,000 people in 26 countries, it is hoped that the 2012 event will grow in participation numbers exponentially. BaG day encourages a focus on 'gentlemanly' behaviour for the day. Participants also engage in discussions, particularly in social media, around the clarification of what these behaviours are in contemporary society. |
