Insite Security

Insite Security Inc. is a private consultancy firm that provides security management for corporations and high net worth families; Insite Investigations Inc., a division of the company, is a full-service private investigations firm. Insite was founded in midtown Manhattan in 2002 by Christopher Falkenberg. Insite is a full-service risk consultancy firm, offering family and corporate security consulting, event security, executive protection, and investigations.

Corporate Security Practice

Insite Security’s primary line of business is outsourced corporate security consulting. Clients typically do not have internal security departments, and choose to outsource this corporate function. Insite was the first security firm that identified a market among corporations that preferred to outsource their security operations. Following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Chris Falkenberg figured it would be far more efficient for companies to retain the services of a group of security experts rather than individually hiring experts in security, terrorism, threat assessment, security engineering, CBN and other security disciplines that corporations must be concerned with.
Insite’s corporate security practice is focused on providing the benefits of a full-fledged internal security department for companies that prefer not to build a security infrastructure internally. Insite provides executive protection, thorough security surveys, travel security and staff training for fire and medical emergencies. Insite subcontracts with a number of vendors to provide its array of services, but the firm is not a vendor or re-seller of any products. By eliminating sales incentives from its revenue base, Insite offers clients a more objective view of the best practices and products to keep their employees and assets safe.

Family Security Practice

Insite’s family security practice provides affluent families with increased security in the most effective and unobtrusive manner available. With multiple homes and complex lives, high net worth families often need the efforts of a “chief security officer” yet do not wish to undertake the effort to find and train such a person. Insite attempts to adapt its advice according to the security practices that best fit each family’s unique needs and lifestyle. The firm helps make commutes to school and work safer for many families; ensures that household staff and itinerant contractors are thoroughly vetted and qualified to have access to the family’s inner life; and secures residences with the best physical security practices. Insite also takes the step of educating family members and household staff about security practices like altering timing and routes when traveling to familiar destinations, establishing family emergency and communication plans, and training on how to react in a worst-case scenario, such as a home invasion. Insite also provides travel-security consulting for families traveling overseas, using charter aircraft and planning travel activities.

Investigations Practice

Insite also maintains a considerable private investigations practice, focusing on corporate and litigation-related investigations. Insite often performs due diligence before a firm or individual decides to make an investment, assuring that the venture is sound. Another major practice area is background investigations, reaching back 15 years into a subject’s local history, rather than providing a 7-year “data dump” culled from computer databases. Insite is able to go back further and search the subject’s local history, including local court records and community interactions, as well as offer a thorough interpretation to the mountains of raw data provided by many investigators. Insite also works closely with litigators, providing fact-finding and witness-location services.

Management Team

Previous to founding Insite, Chris Falkenberg gained security and investigative experience as a Special Agent in the United States Secret Service before going on to become an attorney at the Wall Street firm Davis Polk & Wardwell. Richard Chapman is Insite’s Managing Director, having retired from the New York Police Department, where he had been Commanding Officer of the Threat Assessment and Protection Unit. James S. Reyes, another member of the NYPD, acts as the firm’s Director of Protective Operations. In 2007, Insite expanded to open an office in Greenwich, Connecticut, headed by Managing Director Bill Whiteside. Mr. Whiteside formerly was also with the United States Secret Service, as well as recent private sector positions in executive security management at AT&T and Citigroup.
