InfoQuant

Infoquant (London, UK) is a private bioinformatics company developing software for array-based DNA copy number analysis. Its software products specialize in detection of DNA alterations based on measurements produced by array CGH and SNP array tehnologies. This class of software products is usually employed in research and diagnostics of various disorders such as cancer and developmental disorders.
History
Founded in 2006 by Dr. Anton Petrov (a graduate of University of Southern California and INSEAD), Infoquant Ltd developed its first aCGH data analysis products in close collaboration with several U.S. diagnostic laboratories including Quest Diagnostics. In 2007 infoQuant became the first independent software vendor supporting aCGH-based clinical tests for genetic disorders. In early 2009 Infoquant also opened its services division and currently provides analytic support for large-scale biological experiments in such areas as stem cell research and cancer research.
Bioinformatics market
The market of bioinformatics software and services has become rather heavily populated over the last decade. Most of bioinformatics companies designed their products to facilitate data analysis in research areas such as cancer research and drug discovery. Microarray data analysis packages have been almost exclusively offered for research purposes and can be usually characterised as "exploratory tools". A market for clinically used bioinformatics software emerged around 2005-2007 with gradual acceptance of aCGH technology in clinical diagnostics of developmental disorders and cancer. Infoquant was the first company building its products for this particular segment.
Software
Infoquant provides two software packages. oneClickCGH is designed to facilitate array-based copy number analysis for Cytogenetics. CGH Fusion is utilized in large multi-sample copy number and loss of heterozygosity studies. Both products were originally designed in 2006 to support data analysis of low-resolution clinical BAC array tests for developmental disorders. Over the next couple of years, however, infoQuant re-designed its software to also support high resolution and ultra-high resolution oligo arrays as higher density arrays became widely used in diagnostic laboratories.
Microarray platforms
Infoquant software was designed to work with a variety of array-based DNA Copy Number technologies including:
*PerkinElmer and other BAC platforms
*Illumina BeadChip
*Agilent aCGH
*Affymetrix GeneChip
*Roche Nimblegen aCGH
