IMSN (International Maritime Security Network www.imsn.us) is a private security company that trains, audits, and drills ships and vessels to defend against international pirating and criminal action of the maritime industry.
Services
IMSN offers a range of maritime security services that fits a maritime company's needs. They specializes in the development of vessel and port security plans including third-party due diligence and auditing, certified training that integrates the required understanding of new international law, the current ISPS code, SUA conventions, and SOLAS amendments.
CSO Company Security Officer
Those who successfully complete this course are able to under take the duties and responsibilities as Company Security Officer, as defined in ISPS Code A/11.2, which include, but are not limited to: Advising the level of threats to be encountered by the ship, using appropriate security assessments and other relevant information; Ensuring that ships security assessments are carried out; Ensuring the development,the submission for approval, and thereafter the implementation of the Ship Security Plan; Ensuring that the Ship Security Plan is modified, as appropriate, to correct deficiencies and satisfy requirements of the individual ship; Arranging for internal audits and reviews of security activities; Arranging for the initial and subsequent verifications of the ship by the Administration or recognized security organization; Ensuring that deficiencies and non-conformities identified during internal audits, periodic reviews, security inspections and verifications of compliance are promptly addressed with; Enhancing security awareness and vigilance; Ensuring adequate training for personnel responsible for the security of the ship; Ensuring effective communication and cooperation between the Ship Security Officer and the Port Facility Officers; Ensuring consistency between security requirements and safety requirements; Ensuring that, if sister-ship or fleet security plans are used, the plan for each ship reflects the ship-specific information accurately; and ensuring that any alternative or equivalent arrangements approved for a particular ship or group of ships are implemented and maintained.
SSO Ship Security Officer
Those who successfully complete this course should be able to undertake the duties and responsibilities as Ship Security Officer, as defined in ISPS Code A/12.2, which include, but are not limited to: Undertaking regular security inspections of the ship to ensure that appropriate security measures are being maintained; Maintaining and supervising the implementation of the Ship Security Plan, including any amendments to the plan; Co-ordinate the security aspects of the handling of cargo, ship's stores and bunkers with shipboard personnel and relevant port facility security officers; Proposing modifications to the Ships Security Plan to the Company Security Officer; Reporting to the Company Security Officer any deficiencies and non-conformities identified during internal audits, periodic reviews, security inspections and verification of compliance and implementing any corrective actions; Enhancing security awareness and vigilance aboard the ship: Ensuring that adequate training has been provided to shipboard personnel, as appropriate; Reporting and recording of all security incidents; Co-ordinate implementation of the Ship Security Plan with the Company Security Officer and the relevant Port Facility Officers; Ensuring that security equipment is properly operated, tested calibrated and maintained; and ensure consistency between security responsibility requirements and the proper treatment of shipboard personnel affected by those requirements.
Testing and Auditing
Ship and Port Facility Security Plans are required to be periodically audited to determine their continued effectiveness. IMSN reviews plans, security measures, and procedures in relation to operation and personnel resources. They help amend any identified weaknesses or areas deemed irrelevant. IMSN conducts security assessments and on-scene security surveys of vessels and port facilities to help gauge the level of security at which the vessel or port operates.
Conducting on-going Security Drills and Exercises is a required element of the ISPS Code, but even more importantly is a vital part of any serious regimen designed to test and evaluate the preparedness of shipboard and port facility security personnel.

Our trained teams can conduct unannounced challenges to security that will test any area of concern. A sample of areas that can be evaluated are as follows:

Controlled and uncontrolled access points to your ship or port facility. Attentiveness and proficiency of security personnel at controlled access points, with specific attention being given to: Personnel's ability to adequately check identification and reason for boarding ship or entering facility; Proper use of screening procedures; Ability to effect communication with senior security personnel or other personnel who would respond to a security incident; Knowledge of who to communicate with regarding questions or concerns about persons seeking to board ship or enter facility - chain of command; Use of any passwords or other security checks employed; Overall security awareness of non-security personnel; Evaluation of preparedness and procedures followed in response to various "staged" security incidents or "staged" increases in security level, with detailed comparison to procedures found in your Ship or Port Facility Security Plan; Security measures in place for restricted areas and response to breaches therein; Ability to coordinate security measures between ship and port facility security personnel and other entities who may respond to a security incident.

Maritime Security Underwater Search & Recovery Team (MS/USR): This MS/USR team of Maritime Security Divers conducts Underwater Search & Recovery operations for ships and or facilities. Our team can respond to specific underwater threats or run drills/exercises for your company. The IMSN Dive Team can also secure your facility from underwater threats.
