Illridewithyou

Illridewithyou (styled as #illridewithyou) was a hashtag campaign following the 2014 Sydney hostage crisis.
In the crisis, which began on 15 December 2014 an Islamist gunman, Man Haron Monis, held hostages at a Lindt Chocolate Café at Martin Place, Sydney. A Brisbane woman, Rachael Jacobs, wrote a Facebook status saying that she had been on a train and saw a Muslim woman remove her hijab, Jacobs then told the woman to put her hijab back on and offered to walk with her. The woman began to cry but walked off alone. Another woman, Tessa Kum, read Jacobs' status and came up with the hashtag itself.
In a phone call with the Prime Minister of Australia, Tony Abbott, the President of the United States, Barack Obama, praised the campaign. George Christensen, National MP for Dawson, was strongly critical of the campaign, accusing it of being a "typical lefty campaign" seeking to create "false victims" and branded Kum "another #hatingwhitey lefty activist". He linked to a Breitbart article including a from Kum in which she admitted to hating white people.
