Illinois Valley Community Hospital

The Illinois Valley Community Hospital (IVCH) is a non-profit hospital located in Peru, Illinois. The hospital houses 68 beds, with the majority (56) dedicated to medical - surgical use, and 6 maternity beds.
History
IVCH was formed in 1975 by the merger of St. Mary's Hospital of LaSalle, Illinois (founded in 1887 by the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart) and People's Hospital of Peru (founded in 1914). IVCH expanded in 1979 with the addition of a new 80-bed wing in the Peru facility and the closure of the original St. Mary's facility in LaSalle. The facility expanded incrementally between 1979 and 1996, and then in 1996, announced an affiliation agreement with The Hygienic Institute of LaSalle (also founded in 1914).
Achievements
IVCH has been named a recipient of the 2012 HealthGrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award. Tommy Hobbs, IVCH chief executive officer noted that IVCH was also the recipient of the 2012 NewsTribune Readers’ Choice Award for Most Respected Medical Center in the Illinois Valley area. The hospital was also ranked second in Illinois for patient safety by a leading consumer ratings publication.
IVCH Center for Orthopedic Excellence have been recognized by HealthGrades for outstanding patient outcomes for eight years running. Among the honors is the Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award, plus five additional orthopedic recognitions for 2013. That places them in the top 10% for orthopedic surgery in the nation.<ref name=About/>
