IBPT Corporation

IBPT Corporation (Innovative Biological Preservation Technologies Corporation) is the Arizona based research company which works on the development of the reversible hypothermic preservation technology for biological objects using saturation of biological tissues with clathrate forming gaseous substances under increased hydrostatic pressure. The company became a world-leading research organization in the area of long-term reversible hypothermic preservation of biological tissues.
The company discovered (and published the results of the experiments) that saturation of biological tissues with xenon (a clathrate-forming gas) under increased hydrostatic pressure (100psi) at clathrate-forming temperature has protective effect on intracellular membranes.
The company proposed the hypothermic biopreservation method based on using the special clathrate-forming gaseous combination under increased hydrostatic pressure and the temperature above 0°C. Clathrates formation will prevent the biological tissues from dehydration during ice formation (in intercellulart space) resulted from conventional freezing. Clathrates will sequester water inside the cells preventing from dehydration which will cause irreversible inactivation of intracellular enzymes. The company holds the U.S. pended patent for this hypothermic biopreservation method.
At present IBPT Corporation is working on designing the biopreservation/stabilization portable device (based on using clathrate-forming gaseous combinations under increased hydrostatic pressure) that may be applied for stabilization of severely injured limbs (limb-threatening trauma) in cases of high-energy traumas caused by force (missile, traffic injuries, crush or blast injuries, falling from heights) to reduce amputation rate and long-term work disability.
