A manufacturing company formed circa 1926 in Wingdale, New York. making custom-made home and commerical furniture and fixtures. History Early History of its Formation The bases of manufacturing began on a property on the that had several outbuildings, barns painted in red, and a 1740 Inn and that later became the showroom. Frederick Hunt and Lillian Agnes Cook, from Greenville, North Carolina settled in Wingdale, New York. Lillian was attending Artist Artisian Institute of New York City and met Frederick Hunt who was attending New York University about 1901. They married while living in Katonah, New York and soon after purchased the homestead and property which evolved as still today, Hunt Country Furniture. In the mid 1920's Lillian Hunt opened an antique store and later started a furniture restoration service. With the help of her sons, Julian and Lockwood Hunt, she began making furniture for the locals as a just as favor till the demand became a business and remains till this day. Late Julian and younger brother Lockwood became partners. Sometime in the early 1970's Julian sold his half interest out to Lockwood. The Company Today To this day Lockwood Hunt owns and operates the Hunt Country Furniture in Wingdale, New York with remote locations in Buckingham, Pennsylvania, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania,and Dover Plains, New York The company became incorporated as early as 1967.
