Hugh Baird Hotel

The famous Lord Hugh Baird Hotel was created by the Baird family in 1888 in Dublin, Ireland. Though the success of the hotel took time, by 1900 the hotel was booming with business, and made Dublin something of a tourist attraction, with only the rich and famous staying in the Hotel.

However in late 1908 Lord George developed lung cancer and would eventually die in early 1909. After that, the rest of the family decided to sell up and move away.

The hotel was bought by Earnest Ronald Kelly in 1910, but the success did not follow the hotel as the sale did. For various reasons the hotel could not attract customers and 2 years later the hotel was closed.

The building stood empty until 1996. Nobody would go near the rundown building as they felt that too much work would be needed to restore it. In 1996 Glenn Baird (No relation) bought the building and spent £500,000 restoring the building and bringing back its full glory. He reopend the hotel and decided to keep the name "lord Hugh Baird Hotel". Once again business was a failure. For years Glenn Baird would try to create new marketing and gimmicks for the hotel but sadly nothing paid off. Until 1999, after 3 years of not even breaking-even, the business had a surge of business.

The hotel started doing well that at times the it had a waiting list of 6 months. And was charging £1000 a night.

But what made the hotel famous for the second time was the ghostly activity that surrounded it. Not only strange noises in the night and various siteings, 15 unusual deaths accured in the hotel in just 8 months. But this did not turn people away, instead the business seemed to thrive on the unusual deaths.

By July 2006 the hotels has had 21 murders, 16 suicides and 4 disappearances.

The hotel is currently in mid filming for the new psychic TV show Whistlecroft Investigates.
