House Courcel

In Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series, House Courcel is the reigning family of Terre d'Ange, descended in a straight, unbroken line from Blessed Elua. The emblem of House Courcel is a silver swan on a field of midnight blue.

Josephine: a long-dead queen, who had an affair with a player and had a secret passage built to connect the Queen's quarters with the theatre complex in the .
Ganelon de la Courcel: King of Terre d'Ange. Ganelon had only one son, Rolande de la Courcel, who died young, and is succeeded by his granddaughter, Ysandre de la Courcel. Ganelon dies during the Bitterest Winter due to a series of strokes.
Genevieve de Somerville: wife of King Ganelon de la Courcel, deceased by the events of the novels.
Percy de Somerville: brother of Genevieve and a Prince of the Blood. Holds the title of Compte of .
Rolande de la Courcel: the deceased Dauphin of Terre d'Ange, the only son of Ganelon de la Courcel, who was killed at the Battle of the Three Princes.
Edmee de Rocaille: the deceased first wife of Prince Rolande, with no children from their union. Rumoured to have been killed by Isabel L'Envers, who cut the stays of the girth of a saddle so that she would fall and break her neck. This is only rumour, however.
Isabel L'Envers: second wife of Rolande de la Courcel, deceased by the events of the novels.
Ysandre de la Courcel: daughter of Prince Rolande and Isabel L'Envers, Dauphin. Becomes Queen of Terre d'Ange in Kushiel's Dart after the death of her grandfather, Ganelon de la Courcel.
Lyonette de la Courcel de Trevalion: known as the "Lioness of Azzalle". Sister of King Ganelon, married to Marc Trevalion, the Duc of , with one son, Baudoin de Trevalion.
Benedicte de la Courcel: younger brother of King Ganelon, married to Maria Stregazza of ; wife is deceased by the time of the novels. The Doge of is himself is of House Stregazza.

Marie-Celeste de la Courcel Stregazza: the first daughter of Prince Benedicte and Maria Stregazza de la Courcel. Princess of the Blood. She is wed to Marco Stregazza, the Doge's son.
Thérèse de la Courcel: second daughter of Prince Benedicte and Maria Stregazza de la Courcel. She is wed to Dominic.
Severio Stregazza: the son of Marie-Celeste de la Courcel Stregazza and Marco Stregazza, Prince of the Blood.
Etaine de Tourais: the second wife of Benedicte. She is an orphan of the war with from and they have a son together. We later find out this is a pseudonym and not her real name (see Kushiel's Chosen).
