Holy Family-Holy Name School

Holy Family-Holy Name School is a Roman Catholic school located in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The school serves nearly 300 children from preschool to eighth grade. History Holy Family-Holy Name School was founded in 1976 as a merger between two Holy Name School and Holy Family School. The two schools were administered by Holy Name Parish and St. Lawrence, Martyr Parish, respectively.<ref name=":0" /> For the first three years of the new school's existence, it operated out of the two campuses of the former parochial schools. Elementary grades were located in the former Holy Name School campus, and the fifth through eighth grades were located on the St. Lawrence, Martyr Parish property.<ref name=":0" /> Another school, Holy Family High School, the St. Lawrence parish high school, was located in the same campus as the Holy Family-Holy Name middle school.<ref name=":0" /> In 1976, St. Lawrence parish bought the former Clarence Cook School from the New Bedford Public School System.<ref name=":0" /> Holy Family-Holy Name School left the Holy Name Church property and moved the entire school into the new building, which it shared with Holy Family High School.<ref name=":0" /> Holy Family High School closed in 1985, and Holy Family-Holy Name was able to make use of the new space by adding a preschool and kindergarten, computer lab and music room, as well as provide space for use by St. Lawrence, Martyr parishioners.<ref name=":0" /> Extracurriculars Holy Family-Holy Name School offers many clubs, including one athletic club, but no team sports.<ref name=":0" /> * Anti-Bullying Club * Arts Exploration Club * Chess Club * Dance Fit Blub * Drama Club * Junior Choir * Lego Club * Newspaper Club * Run Fit Club Uniform Boys<ref name":0" /> === * Black, brown or tan dress shoes * White, navy, black or tan dress socks * Khaki shorts or pants * Navy school logo shirt * Black or brown belt (optional) Girls<ref name":0" /> === * Black, brown or tan dress shoes or black or white saddle shoes * White, navy or gray dress socks or tights * Uniform plaid jumper with modesty shorts underneath * White round collar blouse or * Black, brown or tan dress shoes * White, tan or navy dress socks * Khaki shorts * Navy school logo shirt * Black or brown belt (optional) See Also
