Holroyd Youth Services

Holroyd Youth Services (HYS), located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia was incorporated as a service for young people in 1988. The premises in which HYS operate are provided by Holroyd City Council and staff funding is provided by the Department of Community Services.
There are three staffed positions based at HYS, Coordinator/Youth Worker, Youth Housing Worker and Youth Activities Worker. Since HYS began, many great workers have filled these positions, workers with passion and devotion for the young people who have accessed the service. Young people from many different backgrounds and for many different reasons have walked through the doors of Merrylands Youth Centre or participated in many of the activities facilitated by the organisation.
Like all things, changes have taken place, new facilities, new activities, new workers and new opportunities, but the one constant over the years is the maintenance of the aims and objectives of HYS and its dedication in creating a safe and welcoming environment for its young people. Staff and Management work together to ensure that HYS continues to provide a service that fulfils the needs of its clients while continuing to maintain its positive membership within the wider community. They are always open to suggestions from young people, residents, local business owners and fellow workers within the Holroyd LGA that will contribute to the expansion of an already thriving service.
We are proud to be a part of a community that welcomes the work we do. HYS operates Merrylands Youth Centre as well as many other programs and activities: School Holiday Programs organized each school holiday for young people at either minimal cost or free. Some activities include camps, basketball and pool comps, movies, picnics, beach trips and lots more. Support, advocacy and referral for young people. Accommodation through the long term housing project, HATCH (Holroyd Accommodation Through Cooperative Housing). A range of social, recreational, educational and cultural activities. Assistance in finding relevant accommodation. Assistance with legal, health or employment issues.
