Helium Systems

Helium, Inc (or simply Helium) was founded in 2013 by Amir Haleem, Sean Carey, and Shawn Fanning to build the world's first peer-to-peer wireless network, The People's Network, to simplify connecting devices to the internet. Powered by the Helium Blockchain, Helium enables anyone to be rewarded in cryptocurrency, HNT, for becoming a network operator and providing connectivity for a new class of Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
The company is based in San Francisco, California.
What is Helium?
Helium is an Internet of Things (IoT) network that connects IoT devices like dog tags, environmental sensors, bike trackers and more. It consists of gateway devices or hotspots connected to one another over the internet. Data from IoT devices is transmitted to hotspots and then across the Helium network. Helium is a global network. It is run by thousands of users across the world who host hotspots on their property. In exchange for hosting a hotspot, users are rewarded with cryptocurrency called Helium Network Token or HNT.
Helium hotspots are based on LoRa (Long Range technology) and designed for low data rate communication over long distances. Hotspots are based on a Raspberry Pi, a LoRa concentrator and other interface hardware and sold by different vendors such as Rak and Nebra.
Products
The company launched the Helium Hotspot, a device to provide wireless coverage while mining HNT crypto-tokens on their Helium Blockchain.
