Hassan Latif Lilak

Hassan Latif Lilak (died 1979) was a Pakistani film composer and music director. He composed music for some of the earliest Pakistani films, such as Noor-e-Islam (1957), Films: "Judai", "Rah Guzar", "Nargis", Barsat Mai, Doctor Shaitaan, Film "Madam Te Mazdoor" "Sunahray Supnay", Film:"Anokhi" Song 'Gadi Ko Chalana Babu Zara Halkey Halkey Khahi Dil Ka Jaam Na Chalky", Film:"Susraal" Song 'Jaa Apni Hasrato Pe Ansoo Bhah Key Soo Jaa",

Career
In the later years of his career he composed music for a number of ghazals and taranaas (both ancient poetic forms). He composed soundtracks for 29 movies, and also worked in both radio and television.
During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 he was a driving force in entertaining the soldiers by taking famous singers, including Noor Jehan, near the front lines to heighten morale. Some of his Compositions of 'Taranas'(Patriotic songs): "Rang Lai Ga Shahedo Ka Lahu", "Mera Sohna Sher Kasoor Ni Jindia Tumma Dour Dour Ni", "Pakistan Ke Sare Shehro Zinda Raho Pinda Raho", "Ae Putter Hatta Te Nai Wikdey Ki Labdi Phery Bazar Kurey, Ae Soda Naqad Vi Nai Milda Tou Labdi Pheray Udhar Kurey", "Mera Mahi Chail Chibla Hi Ni Karnail Ni Genrail Ni" sung by Madam Noor Jehan, she was his childhood buddy & close friend.
He was very active in promoting the cultural representation of Pakistan. He toured Iran, the Middle East and participated on behalf of Pakistan in the Tokyo Music Festival in the early 1970s. Noor Jehan was the crown jewel of the Pakistani delegation to this festival.
He (Hassan Latif Lilak) as Composer & Music Director introduced many young and new talented singers in Lahore Film, Radio and TV industry. For example: "Saleem Raza" Film Noor-e-Islam 'Shahe Madina Yasrab Ke Wali Sare Nabi Tere der Ke Sawali', Mehdi Hassan Film "Susral" song "Jis Ne Merey Dil Ko Darad Dia Us Shakal Ko Miane Bulia Nahi", Tahira Syed "Chanjer Pubdi Na Mutiar Bina" Many Ghazals and Geets by her mother "Malika Pukhraj". Beside that many faded away singers 'Rajab Ali', 'Mujeeb Alam', Naheed Niazi, Najma Niazi, Iron Parveen, Ghulam Ali, Tina Sani, Musarat Nazir, Noor Jehan, "Farida Khanum" who sung many many of his Ghazals composition on Radio Pakistan Lahore e.g. "Woh Muj Se Huway Hum Kalaam Allah Allah" and many more.
Hassan Latif Lilak & Khawaja Kurshid Anawar joint efforts created music carriculum for M.A. Degree in Music and the "by-product" of those effort was EMI recorded series of Classical Music of Pakistan called "Raag Maala" cosisting 10-12 cassetts set, which discussed all the five "THAATS" of classical music, their Grammer,Pronunciation, Syntax and Smatics of classical music and singing examples explained about classical music of Raaga and Ragnis.
Hassan Latif Lilak was very visionary and plitically active person. Beside being artist and composer he was very active socially, active reformer and political person with new vision for country of Pakistan he wanted political party, which could represent everyday common people and their isssues and concerns. Although, Not very many people know that he was one of the founder of first six visionary people who conceived and made the idea of political party into reality of "People's Party" and its birth and founders i.e. Mian Mahmood Ali Kasoori, Mustafa Kher, Hanif Rame, Sheik Rasheed, Habib Jalib and Hassan Latif Lilak .
Hassan Latif Lilak, had good acquintaces. He met with President "Yahya Khan", President Bhutto, President Zia-ul-Haaq (who gave singer Ghulam Ali title "Pride of Pakistan" on composition of "Hassan Latif Lilak" Justice " Saleem Kiani", Justice Hamood-ur-Rehman who were big fan of his music and compositions and many many other dignitary(s).
His much liked poets were: Nasir Kazimi,Faiz Ahmaed Faiz, Sufi Tabassum, Abaid ulla Kaleem, Ahmmed Fraz, Habib Jalib, Tanveer Naqvi, Munir Niazi, Khater Lukhnawi, Sagar Saddiqui, Riaz Shahid,Khalil Ahmed, Alama Iqbal, and many other classical poet which all generation of Pakistani study in their Matriculation and Intermediate "F.A." Urdu courses "Dard Ho Dil Mai Tou Duwa Kije Dil Hi Jab Dard Ho Kis Kije", Meer Taqi Meer, Asad Ulla Ghalab, Momin..etc..
