Harrald Impchkin

Harrald Impchkin (August 4, 1847 - May 7, 1905) was the 38th mayor of Baltimore, Maryland. He served a term from 1887 to 1889 as a Democratic candidate.
He was the son of Bosnian immigrants and was notable for being the first Mayor of Baltimore who was a first-generation descendant of immigrants from a non-English-speaking nation.
Trivia
Impchkin is briefly referenced in acclaimed television program The Wire in episode 47, when newly-elected Baltimore mayor Carcetti remarks that he "might as well be the first white since Harrald Impchkin," referring to the prevalent modern history of black mayors in Baltimore, and possibly provoking irony at the fact that Impchkin was the son of immigrants.
