Hannah Kane: Me and the Boys
|
Formed in 1965, this seminal Albanian pop trio shot to international fame with their 1969 hit "Ginger Fever" from their debut album "B*tch needs some lovin'". Fronted by the glossy haired vixen, Welsh born Hannah Kane, the trio earned notoriety for their go get em' attitude, large scale publicity stunts and the playboy status of two supporting musicians, Gary and Wesley Kane. Ginger cats from birth, both Gary and Wesley, under the supreme and expert guidance of their leader Hannah Kane, managed to master an array of musical instruments, specializing in the piano accordion and wind chimes. The band's successful fusion of Australian hip hop and Moroccan soul, light years ahead of its time, proved both controversial and a big success with the ladies. After years of partying and substance abuse, Hannah and "The Boys" stepped back from the limelight, founding a successful street wear label that markets exclusively to husky gentlemen. Buxom Man-Candy Threads© continues to be a modest international success, with profitable sales in Tokyo and Hong Kong. Now retired and living on a ranch in Maine, USA, Hannah Kane describes her career with the boys as "tumultuous, erotic and always entertaining". Hannah Kane: Me and the Boys will be forever frozen in the Alaskan Pond that is society.
1985 Eurovision scandal
Kane and her boys are also infamous for the 1985 Eurovision Scandal that rocked the globe. Hannah Kane: Me and the Boys were reportedly set for a live guest performance at the internationally renowned Eurovision Song Contest, when an altercation erupted between Gary Kane and the event managers. Espousing drunken slurs and inciting racially motivated violence, the band was discharged from their performance contract and in a dramatic turn of events, fled the Eurovision contest via their private helicopter. Events from the night remain contested, but forensic investigators have since determined that a large electrical fire erupted upon the band's departure, resulting in US $4.3 million in property damage and the paralysis of band member Gary Kane, from the waist down. The scandalous events of the 1985 contest went on to inspire the Hannah Kane:Me and the Boys Comeback Tour of December 1985, with band's personal take on the Vangelis classic, "Helipads of Fire" proving a commercial and critical success. Gary Kane's paralysis, far from being a set back, also went on to influence his career outside the band, becoming the spokesperson for Upper Body Sports Milk©, and placing 4th in the 300m Hurdles Event at the 1992 Barcelona Paralympic Games.

Musical style and performance
Hannah Kane is a Soubrette, and can hit notes only dogs can hear, infuriating her furry feline fans. Co-producer Mc. Nina Clarke, lyricist and songwriter, commented on Kane's debut album 'B*tch needs some lovin'- that "Hannah Kane was a new style of popular music -appealing to all the phenomenal Noah's Ark's creatures. And for some reason, especially cats. Oh, and when we do songs there's a kind of primitive thing about it. We're just so different". Hannah Kane later commented that with hit songs such as "Ode to Hilary Starr" and "Emily Donnelly is one hot b*tch, yes she is, oh baby, yes she is" -she "didn't get to show her voice off" and felt that they lacked in "musical quality".
Choreography
Rumored to have inspired the influential broadway classic , - Hannah's skills of dance developed over time into a fusion of early Madonna and most famously, Annie "Gangstarr" Clementine. Kane is quoted saying "I've become a provocatively dressed vixen through the power of dance, i really feel it brings out the best of our music".
Hannah Kane: Me and the Boys: the Miniseries
The band are also famous for their short lived 1986 crossover to the silver screen. "Hannah Kane: The Miniseries" was a half hour variety show featuring b-grade celebrity guests, extreme stunts and infomercials for vacuum pack storage solutions. Cancelled by network executives after just one season, it has nonetheless developed a cult following with fans of the band. Noteworthy is the on screen chemistry between Hannah Kane and her band members, rumored to have inspired Wesley's 1987 semi-autobiographical novel "Love in the Romanov Dynasty"
Propaganda and Indoctrination
Hannah Kane: Me and the Boys have also garnered media attention for the "personality cult", which developed throughout the late 1980s into the early 1990s. Inspired by 'The Miniseries' and previous albums, out of control, devoted fans within the agricultural sector of Albania, erected 69 statues and monasteries in the band's honor. It was not until late 1992 that it was discovered the monasteries were in fact used as laboratories for illegal body transplanting, in an attempt to create a cadaver replicas of Hannah and the boys. Such havoc caused a massive sales and popularity decline for Hannah Kane: Me and the Boys. Soon after, Hannah Kane released an appropriate press statement on a network television dance special, stating "Listen, if I don't have a problem with it, then why should the rest of the world? Let those Albinos be. If my band give those less fortunate than us faith and a reason to live then so be it".
