Héctor Villa Osorio

Héctor Villa Osorio Manizales, (1 May 1926, Bogotá - 18 August 2012) was a Colombian Business Man, Founder of the pharmaceutical conglomerate, Dromayor. He was also the founder of Club del Comercio in Pereira and in his las decade was a strategic partner in construction projects such as Torre Central, Uniplex and Unicentro Pereira
On April 9th, 1948, on the day of the Bogotazo, he founded a drugstore, Farmacia Americana, and he was the sole employee. He spent 10 years there, living and working in the pharmacy open to the public 24/7. In 1950 he had saved enough to open 3 more drugstores and in 1953 he opened his first distribution center, Drogas Caldas to supply his drugstores in the region.
He then opened the second distribution Center in Pereira called Deposito Central de Drogas, due to the shortening of telegraph messages his company name was always shortened to Dromayor, wich immediately become the name of the company. Throughout the next decade he expanded to all Colombian mayor cities and dedicated the next 15 years to manage a network of 25 distribution centers and over 250 drugstores nationally and also expanded distribution to include 10,000 Colombian independent pharmacies, The company had 90% market share for the Colombian market until the early '90s when fierce international competition landed on the scene.
In the early 2000's Dromayor had several attempts to internationalize through a fusion with an international conglomerate and due to several international economic crisis that was not possible. It was finally sold by divisions to different local smaller companies.
In 1983 He founded two pharmaceutical production plants called Anglopharma and Ophalac. They specialized and generics and produced over 380 references of farmaceutical compounds which were also exported to the Peruvian, Panamanian and Ecuadorian markets. Beyond his farmaceutical achievements He was involved in the construction business through his real estate company, liquor distribution business and an insurance company. He also founded the Club del Comercio de Pereira.
Personal life
He was married to Ruby Trujllo de Villa, a first cousin of Cesar Gaviria Trujillo, president of Colombia and they had 4 children.
