Gwen Goldman

Gwen Goldman is a New York Yankees fan also known as "honorary bat girl" who made headlines around the world in June 2021 when her dream to play for The Yankees was honorarily fulfilled.
Background and story
Gwen Goldman-McLoughlin was born 1951 and grew up in New York, United States.
In 1961, Gwen Goldman wrote a letter to the former Yankees general manager Roy Hamey, who replied her on June 23, 1961 telling Goldman who was 10 years old then that she can not join the team because she is a girl and that she would "feel out of place in a dugout". Early 2021 Goldman's daughter, Abby McLoughlin wrote to the Yankees about her mother's dream and that Goldman had Hamey's response letter displayed in the living room wall. 60 years later, after hearing about Goldman's story, the current New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman surprised Goldman who was 70 at that time with a new reply letter on 23 June 2021 saying that he would like to bring her childhood dream to reality.
The Yankees made Gwen Goldman their honorary bat girl on 28 June 2021 ahead of their matchup against the Los Angeles Angels as part of the annual Yankees HOPE Week initiative.
