Guo Qichen is a twelfth-generation direct-lineage disciple of Chen-style t'ai chi ch'uan. He is a recipient of numerous top awards at China's wushu tournaments and holds a fifth-degree rank in Wushu martial arts. In 1988 he received the prestigious title of T'ai chi ch'uan Master from the Yong-nian International Wushu-Taichi Chuan Federation. Guo has practiced t'ai chi ch'uan for over 20 years. While in China has studied under some of the most notable grandmasters of Chen-style t'ai chi ch'uan, including Chen Xiao-wang, Chen Zheng-Lei, Zhang Mao-zhen, and Zhang Zhi-Jun. Guo immigrated to the United States in 2001, upon which he subsequently won gold medals in two national championships: the International Wushu Kung-fu Festival in Florida, the USA Wushu Kung-fu Federation National Championship in California.
