Guanikeyu

Guanikeyu, is the present day Cacique, Principal tribal chief of the Jatibonicu Taino Native American Indian tribe of Boriken Puerto Rico. He was born in the town of Barros (Orocovis) located in the central mountains on the US Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, in the year 1951.

The name Guanikeyu, or Guani-ke-yu, in the Taino language literally means "Noble bird of the White Earth". He is a hereditary blood chief and descendant of Cacique (Chief) Orocobix and Cacica (Chieftist) Yayo. Don Pedro Guanikeyu Torres is the present day tribal chief of The Jatibonicu Taino Tribal Nation of Boriken (Puerto Rico). This Taino Amerindian tribe is located within the central mountain region of the United States territorial commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The tribe's original Pre-Columbian tribal territory covers the present day local municipalities of Orocovis, Morovis, Barranquitas, Corozal and Aibonito, Puerto Rico.
