Grocery Direct Consolidated Transportation, Inc. is a nationwide third-party logistics company providing integrated warehousing, transportation, truckload consolidation and transportation consultation services. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, the 3PL operates locations across the U.S. and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shippers Warehouse, Inc., spun off from Shippers Warehouse in March 2010 as a separate corporation. History Shippers Warehouse, Inc. traditionally provides services in the warehousing industry in the United States. However, the warehousing industry experiences a “fixed rate” regulation. This issue led the company to realize a consolidation program to leverage the service offerings and the carriers, and to abide by the Texas Railroad Commission regulation. As a result, in 1999, Shippers Warehouse opened Transportation Savings Program (TSP) to start its consolidation services. In the beginning, TSP was able to ship 2 to 5 truckloads a week. However, as the program became bigger, Shippers Warehouse realized the need to expand the program. Therefore, in March 2010, TSP was separated into a wholly owned subsidiary of Shippers Warehouse called Grocery Direct Consolidated Transportation, Inc. (GDCT). The founders of GDCT include Ken Johnson and Graham Swank, whom both serve as members of the Board of Directors along with Mark Strickland. Over time, the company has continued to expand its area of service to 48 US State with the strongest market saturation in the Southwest and Southeast regions, and augmented its customer base to all product categories within the consumer packaged goods industry. The company has also established fine relationships with its partners and consignees nation-wide. Nowadays, the company is able to ship 30 to 70 truckloads a day. Service Offerings Grocery Direct provides a wide range of transportation services from local delivery and drayage to LTL consolidation and truckload transportation, asset owned and non-asset based transportation brokerage services throughout the United States. The company provides inbound transportation services to leverage their own assets and relationships with leading carriers for in-class services in response to individual customer requirements.
