Greg Pritchard

Greg Pritchard is a Welsh singer who finished as a semi-finalist on the television competition ' in 2009. He is a countertenor with a broad vocal range, reaching that of a female mezzo-soprano or soprano.
Education and Training
Pritchard is a graduate of Caerleon Comprehensive School in South Wales. He studied music at Pontypool College. In addition to singing, he plays piano and clarinet. He was scheduled to enroll in the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts but could not attend due to lack of tuition money. In fall 2009 he began classes at the Mark Jermin Stage School in Wales.

Audition
Pritchard auditioned for the series in Cardiff in February 2009, surprising the judges and audience with his rendition of the tenor aria Nessun Dorma in a soprano range. He received a standing ovation. Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden voted yes, and Simon Cowell said, "I haven't got a bloody clue, but you're through." The audition was televised 9 May 2009. In interviews after the audition was televised, Pritchard discussed the audition, his career aspirations, and the death of his father, Spencer Pritchard, in 2006.
He cites Sarah Brightman as a performer whose talent and career range he admires.He had planned to perform part of Sarah Brightman's A Question of Honour for the audition, but the backing tape did not arrive on time.
Semi-final 5
Pritchard was the last of eight contestants in the of the series on 29 May 2009. He performed Barcelona, similar to the piece performed by Freddie Mercury and Soprano Montserrat Cabelle. He sang parts of both voices, in both English and Spanish. An article posted on the Britain's Got Talent website the following day explained that there were some problems with the costume of an oversized cape and wind machine, and that Pritchard had suffered from a sore throat and injured neck and had not been able to practice for several weeks before the semi-final. Based on statistics posted after the final, he placed third in the popular vote ; he did not advance to the final competition.
Current Career
Pritchard returned to work as a waiter at the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales following Britain's Got Talent.
He has performed at charity and other events in Wales. He is preparing for an autumn UK tour with Paula Randell and performances in India, and has auditioned for West End roles.
