Greatest Planet

Greatest Planet is an non-profit environmental organization specialising in carbon offset investments.

The projects run by Greatest Planet help neutralise carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by offsetting its customers' unavoidable residue. Projects include forestation, renewable energy, methane collection & combustion, energy efficiency, destruction of industrial pollutants, and agricultural byproducts projects that absorb or prevent the release of CO2.

Greatest Planet is assisted by a large network of activists who provide support for the network and its agreed major offset projects. The executive committee of elected representatives sets policy and oversees the work of the organisation.

Greatest Planet was one of the first organisations to grasp the seriousness of climate change and to call for a reduction in emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. David Gilmour, James Mead, and John Thompson, the 3 founders of Greatest Planet also participated in the second congressional hearings on the subject in the late 1990s, where they were asked to document the evidence for anthropogenic global warming. The work of Greatest Planet was supported and endorsed for many years by Petra Kelly, the (deceased) German environmentalist and founder of the Green Party.
