Gordy Bunch

Richard "Gordy" Bunch III (born July 18, 1972) is the chairman of The Woodlands, Texas township board of directors, and a previous candidate for Texas State Senate for district 14. He is a member of the Republican Party.

Texas State Senate
Bunch ran in a special election for District 4 against Brandon Creighton (R), Michael Galloway (R), and Steve Toth (R). No candidate reached 50% of the votes so the top 2 Creighton and Toth advance to the runoff election, where Creighton won.
Confederate Statue Controversy
During a meeting at the Texas Patriots PAC Bunch stated that Confederate leaders being removed from by municipalities can be relocated to The Woodlands to preserve history. Bunch later apologized for his comments by stating:

Richard Bunch III was born July 18, 1972. Bunch and his wife Michelle have 3 children and have lived in The Woodlands since 1995. He is a active member of The Woodlands community, participating in the Gran Fondo bike race for Multiple Sclerosis, Iron Man Triathlon, and Muddy Trails Bash for Kids. Bunch is a member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church.
Business Career
Bunch is founder and CEO of The Woodlands Financial Group (TWFG) and President of Professional Insurance Agents of Texas. TWFG Insurance is ranked #1 in Texas and Louisiana and 8th largest privately-owned independent insurance provider in the United States.
Military Career
Bunch was in the United States Coast Guard based out of Long Beach, California from 1991 to 1995. He received the "Coast Guard Achievement Medal".
