Gopilal Acharya was born in Gelephu, Bhutan, in 1978. He completed his undergraduate (BA English Honors) from Sherubtse College, Bhutan, and has a Master's degree in Global Journalism from Orebro University in Sweden.
He is the author of 'Bhutanese Folktales (From the South and the East)'.
He has contributed poems to a couple of international anthologies published in India.
He worked as a reporter and Eastern Bhutan Correspondent for Kuensel (Bhutan's oldest newspaper) and then as the editor of Bhutan Times, Bhutan's first private newspaper.

On 22 October 2009, he, along with six of his reporters, submitted their resignation to the troubled Bhutan Times citing persistent interference in the editorial decisions by the management.
Gopilal Acharya said the reason for their mass resignation was to protect independent journalism in Bhutan and live up to the journalistic principles and values.

In line with the promotion of „Gross National Happiness“ we created a Simpleshow that explains the movement of GNH and comments on the added value for the people, the environment, the social structure and the economy. Furthermore, it shows the influence on other countries that try to adopt GNH´s maxime.

If you like this Simpleshow, feel free to use the material and/ or youtube link (visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Zqdqa4YNvI) in your work to bring a bit more happiness to everyone of us.

Best wishes and always a good karma
