Gopakumar. R (born 17 May 1972) is an Indian contemporary artist living in Ochira, Kerala, India. He works in different media including digital art, motion photography, installation, drawing, painting, and new media. He is influenced by conceptual art, abstract art, Indian tantric art, romanticism and expressionism. Biography Gopakumar completed his Five year Diploma in Fine Arts painting from from Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, Mavelikara Kerala in 1996. He uses art & technology to discuss and expose the social & political issues of society. He believes the work of art should change the existing visual, intellectual and aesthetic sense and experiment with finding new visual phenomena. He is the representative for India and Bahrain of the Literary Art Movement Immagine & Poesia founded by Aeronwy Thomas a Torino in 2007. In 2014 he was selected among the finalists of the Saatchi Gallery in London for the Motion photography category and for The Motion Photography Prize . The members of the jury were: the director Baz Luhrmann, the artists Shezad Dawood, Tracey Emin, Cindy Sherman and Saatchi Gallery CEO Nigel Hurst.
