Gol Para Mi

Gol Para Mi is an informal 3 player street football game played in Latin America and the U.S.A.
A goal is set up against a fence or wall using shirts, sticks or anything else as goal markers. The goal width is set by the players to make goals possible but not super easy. A player starts as goalie. Goalie can't use hands. Shots have to be at waist height or below. The other two players try to score a goal. When a player scores, they go into goal. Gol Para Mi is also commonly used in youth soccer as a pregame warmup, usually using the baseball backstops that otherwise get in the way of even more soccer games.
This entry is a primary report based on field observations conducted in Prince George's County, Maryland in 2008. This game is familiar to players who have emigrated to Maryland from Latin America. It has successfully been shared with the North American community.
In Spanish, Gol Para Mi means "Goal For Me."
