Goecha La: In Search of the Holy Kangchenjunga

Goecha La : In Search of the Holy Kangchenjunga is a 2012 Travel Film written and directed by George Thengummoottil, and produced by Red Panda Tours and Travels. This film is a journey to the Himalayas, the Goecha_La trek of Sikkim. The film portraits the journey of George Thengummoottil from Kolkatta to Yuksam in Sikkim and his eight day trek from Yuksam to Goechala Pass via Tshoka,Thangsing and Lamuney. This fantastic trek takes him to an altitude of 5200 Meters above sea level. The film gives a ten minute description on the people and culture of Sikkim.
Production
The film was shot on Canon EOS 500D SLR Camera. As there is no electricity at the remote location, solar panels were used to power the camera.Sunshine was available only for a few hours everyday.
Location
The shooting location was inside the Khangchendzonga_National_Park, 50 kilometers away from any human settlement. The nearest human settlement was Tshoka, a tibetan village 5 Kilometers from the final point of trek. Motorable
The film show trekking from Yuksom - Tsokha (2745 mtrs , 12 Kilometers) then to Thasning (3800 mtrs 19 Kilometers) and finally reach Samiti Lake and Goehala (5200 mtrs 8 Kilometers).
