God Talking Soul

God Talking Soul is an Irish rock band hailing from Strabane, Northern Ireland which Nick McCallan formed in 2000. They were the winners of a 'Hot Press' Unsigned Band of the Year competition in 2002 and Budweiser N.I. Unsigned Band Of The Year 2003.
After making an impression on the music scene all over Ireland, GTS split and Nick moved to Belfast where he set up a new GTS and recorded the successful E.P. It's Only Funny Because You Said It. Nick has since gone solo and is carving out a very successful reputation all over Ireland with his live shows and on stage banter.
He is currently as of early 2010 working on new material and hopes to have the very first god talking soul/Nick McCallan album finished within the year.
He/They have performed with the likes of the Levellers, Paul Heaton, Jerry Fish, Hugh Cornwell, Duke Special and many others.
McCallan's style draws a lot of inspiration and comparisons from his love of post punk, folk and British bands of the 80s and 90s. From Dusty Springfield, The Beatles, Stone Roses, Neil Young, Joy Division, Doves and The Verve. His music has been described as very northern, very honest, witty and heartfelt.
