God of Emptiness

"God of Emptiness" is a song by death metal band Morbid Angel, from their 1993 album Covenant. "God of Emptiness" is divided into two parts: Part I: The Accuser, and Part II: The Tempter.
Lyrical themes
The song's lyrical content concerns the false teachings of Christianity. The first verse begins with a deep vocal announcing "lies, and you fill their souls" and further explains "with all oppressions of this world." The lyrics continue with a skeptical attitude towards Christian dogma, which describes "I'll take your soul and you'll be like me" to then assert "in emptiness."
Music video
The "God of Emptiness" music video features a man becoming a demonic being in a sort of secret room of prayer, in a temple, before being worshipped. The video aired on Beavis and Butthead and Headbangers Ball in the 1990s. In the Beavis and Butthead segment, Beavis imitates the death growl at the start of the song and Butthead imitates the vocal line "bow to me faithfully" and "bow to me splendidly."
