GoBYO.com

GoBYO.com, a subsidiary of Dininginfo LLC, is an online restaurant guide that provides information for restaurants that allow you to bring in your own wine in ten U.S. cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Philadelphia, Southeast Florida, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. The site, which lists over 17,000 restaurants in the above regions, includes details about each restaurant and its BYO policy, corkage fees and specific BYO regulations. In addition to providing general information, a map, and wine policy information, each restaurant listing also includes information about hours, entrée prices, reservations, waiter service, cuisine, credit cards accepted, and special features.
The GoBYO.com homepage allows the user to search by restaurant name, keywords, distance, cuisines desired and/or features desired. The homepage also offers a list of recently added, recently closed, and most popular BYO restaurants in each region.
GoBYO.com cooperates with and provides links to OpenTable.com (for reservations), Yelp.com (for reviews), and AllMenus.com (for Menus).
Dininginfo LLC was founded in 2006 by Joseph Segel, who previously founded QVC and The Franklin Mint. After years of research, his team had compiled a significant amount of statistics to support the announcement that a growing number of restaurants were allowing patrons to bring in their own wine. In 2009, Segel sold the company to his granddaughter, Devon Segel.
Quartet of Ratings
GoBYO.com is home to two unique types of restaurant ratings:
Wine Friendly Rating
This rating is automatically calculated from objective criteria, including whether the restaurant has a wine list, whether their wine list is viewable on the Web, the number of wines offered by the glass, whether the restaurant permits BYO, what restrictions there are, if any, and the corkage fee, if any.
Composite Rating
This rating is based on averaging each restaurant's ratings from at least four other restaurant guides on the Web.
