Global storm activity of 2011

The global storm activity of early 2010 includes major meteorological events in the Earth's from January 1 through to the last day of April, including winter storms (blizzards, ice storms, European windstorms), hailstorms, out of season monsoon rain storms, extratropical cyclones, gales, microbursts, flooding, rainstorms and other severe weather.

January 1 to date
Heavy snow kept on tropubling the Residents of Northeast America. There was a possibility of up to 3 inches of snow, rain and ice on the morning of January 18 which could disrupt the rush hour in the cities of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The National Weather Service reported that New York metropolitan area could experience around to of snow before the temperatures rise and it starts raining. A winter storm advisory was issued in to the counties of Nassau and Suffolk. It was also reported that the snow would turn into freezing rain soon after.
Meanwhile, in Sri Lanka, the flood victims started complaining about the unfair distribution of emergency food aid. When the matter was getting serious, Police officers somewhat managed to take the situation under control. Most of the victims were farmers, whose crops have been completely wiped out in the floods. It was reported that The United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Catherine Bragg will be visiting the flood hit areas.
In New Zealand, heavy rain and strong winds were being felt across the country due to Cyclone Zelia which was rapidly moving toward land. mudslide blocked the road at Uranium Point between Hawkes Crag and Fern Arch, as it was reported.
