Glenn Ballantyne-Pueblo, CO Glenn Ballantyne (born 26 September 1949) is an American songwriter, author, educator, music and video producer and marketing/fundraising executive. He is a lifelong student of the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda(Autobiography of a Yogi) and has taught [http://www.yogananda-srf.org/Kriya_Yoga_path_of_meditation.aspx#.UVSRF1eOWUU kriya meditation] and lead kirtans since 1989. Born in Pueblo, Colorado Ballantyne grew up in a steel mill town and is the middle child of a truck line owner (father) and a school teacher (mother), both pilots in World War II. While winning local and regional talent contests, playing classical piano, Glenn attended public schools and two college preparatory schools, Punahou in Hawaii and Shattuck in Minnesota. Ballantyne flew an airplane solo on his 16th birthday, and upon high school graduation, he was awarded scholarships at the St. Louis Institute of Music, and later, Phillips University. During his first year of college Glenn began his study of yoga, ahimsa and vegetarianism. Glenn moved to Hollywood, CA and signed as a songwriter and recording artist with producer Snuff Garrett, Peco Music Publishing and Bell Records. Between 1971 and 1979 Glenn was a signed songwriter and producer of demonstration recordings for Metromedia Music and New York Times Music. During this time Glenn was invited to be a guest artist with the Colorado Springs Symphony, performing his own songs. The Colorado Council of the Arts and Humanities also hired Glenn to be music director for the 150-person touring Chautauqua troupe for the 1977 summer season. Glenn Ballantyne's songs can be heard worldwide, being performed by himself and by other popular artists, including: The Brady Bunch, Jim Nabors, Jackie DeShannon, Roger Williams, the Ovations, and Nancy Wayne. Some of Ballantyne's most played songs are, "Pure Natural Love" (The Ovations), "Parallel Lines" (The Brady Bunch)and "Back Door of Heaven" (Nancy Wayne). Ballantyne collaborated with Jackie DeShannon on her album New Arrangement, creating the songs "A New Arrangement," and "Murphy". With his father's unexpected death in 1978, Glenn returned to Pueblo to help his mother and younger brother operate the family truck line. The business was sold in 1979. While still working the truck line, businesses in Southern Colorado began requesting that Glenn, a "hit" songwriter, create jingles for them. Ballantyne has created award-winning video productions that have played around the world in homes, classrooms, boardrooms and toy stores and have been translated into multiple languages. His clients have included Breyer Horse, United States Ultralight Association, Colorado State University-Pueblo, Colorado Department of Transportation, and Pueblo Economic Development Corporation. Glenn wrote the theme song for the documentary, Friends for Life, about the Morris Animal Foundation, starring actress Betty White (Addy Award, 1989) Promoting uplifting and inspirational items for Sangray Corporation during the 1990s, Ballantyne conceived a concept of uniting Sangray with Bil Keane, one of America's most beloved cartoonists. The Global Order of Cooperation and Peace was formed in the 1990s by Ben & Jerry Foundation's "1 Percent for Peace" and Glenn's company, Ballantyne Marketing & Advertising was a charter member. In addition, Glenn and songwriter Bobby Hart (Boyce and Hart) wrote a campaign theme song One Person Now to help the mission of the organization. Actor, Environmentalist and Humanitarian, Dennis Weaver hired Glenn to assist with his work through his nonprofit, The Institute of Ecolonomics. Together, they launched an Earthship Greenhouse at Haaff Middle School in Pueblo, CO. In 2008, Glenn Ballantyne and highway engineer David Miller, created a web-based experiential learning course for 4th-6th grade classrooms. This learning program, Everybody Loves a Road Trip, is an interactive game that requires students to use logic, art, science, math, cooperative social skills and imagination to unravel the mysteries of ground transportation. This program takes children on a journey from ancient to future times, from the origins of socks to the latest electronics used on Superhighways and ground transportation on distant planets and moons. In one of the learning modules students conduct research and then build a diorama, creating everything from animal trails to superhighways. Tava'-ci pa'a(Southern Ute for sun and water) is an environmental education program Glenn created with landscape architect, Kevin Shanks. Working with historical information from the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and focusing on modern natural and social sciences, they developed a classroom program for elementary and middle school students. Under the guidance of a teacher, this program stimulates students to research, discuss, explore and use hands-on techniques for making a Holistic Watershed Time Machine. This project teaches students how a watershed changes during the four seasons and also how it is impacted by growing human populations. The purpose of this program is to teach children to see a watershed as a beautiful, diverse and vital part of human existence. For the Fountain Creek Foundation, Ballantyne created a film entitled Fourteen 2 Four. This production follows America's creek (Fountain Creek) from its source on Pikes Peak to the confluence with the Arkansas River during all four seasons. Filled with scenes of wildlife and weather changes, the theme song was performed by pianist, Roger Williams and was aired on Rocky Mountain PBS. Glenn has released three albums, (Light of My Soul, Mystic Moon in an Ocean of Sky, and Divine Vibrations) of his own orchestral and vocal interpretations of the spiritualized chants of Gorakhpur, India-born Paramahansa Yogananda. Yogananda is the founder of Self-Realization Fellowship with headquarters in Los Angeles, CA.
