Gleeman Vox is the villain of the video game Ratchet: Deadlocked. He is a greedy merciless shark-like creature with a robotic arm that can show holograms, and the owner of a HV channel called Vox. There is no limit for what Vox will do to increase his ratings, going as far as threatening the safety of entire planets and sacrificing his own life.
Vox's first name, Gleeman, is a word for a performer. His second name, Vox is Latin for voice. Thus, Vox's name could mean "performer's voice". 'Vox', the name of his channel and business, is an obvious parody of Fox.
Overview Vox runs an illegal gladiator show called DreadZone. Unknown to most fans, very few of the heroes that take part of the show are willingly competing. Vox kidnaps numerous heroes to take part of the show, until one day he kidnaps Ratchet, along with his friends, Clank and Al. Vox tells Ratchet that if he completes all the DreadZone challenges he'll win his freedom. There are no means of escape, since all contestants have collars around their neck that shock them if the contestant goes to a restricted area or explode if the contestant becomes uncooperative or boring, so Ratchet accepts. Ratchet easily beats the challenges, even while the Vox news reporters continue to slander him. As Ratchet beats more challenges, Vox comes to realise that Ratchet is more popular than any of his champions, the Exterminators. When Ratchet beats all the challenges, and the grand champion Ace Hardlight, Vox offers him to replace Ace as the captain of the Exterminators. Ratchet refuses, making Vox send him to a final challenge: the Gauntlet of Doom. Despite being thought to be unbeatable, Ratchet manages to pull through, and when he returns to Vox's battledome, Clank organizes a plan to blow up the power generators and turn the collars off. When Ratchet arrives there, it turns out that Vox has set a trap for him, causing the station to explode if he doesn't manage to destroy the generators. Ratchet manages to destroy them, however, but Vox returns in a big mech and battles Ratchet. When Vox is defeated, he activates the self destruct mechanism on the station. Luckily, Clank arrives in an escape shuttle and saves Ratchet, leaving Vox to perish in the exploding space station. His robotic arm is seen after the credits floating amongst the wreakege.
