Gizburg Duck is a hard rock band from Potosi, Missouri, USA, originally formed in 2000 by Paul McCoy and Travis Tucker for entry into a county talent show. The band has gone through many lineup changes and reinventions since it was first created, but has consisted of Paul McCoy, Josh Litton, and Leif Mathis since 2009. In August 2010, Gizburg Duck celebrated their tenth anniversary with the release of their first studio album, Building the Dream. History In 2000, Travis Tucker approached Paul McCoy in Potosi High School about forming a band to compete in a talent show in the Washington County fair. Paul agreed, and the two of them asked fellow students Nick French and Mike Henson to back them up for the show. According to their website, Travis came up with the name Gizburg Duck while practicing calligraphy in school and making up words, and decided to use it for the entry name on the application for the talent show. After the fair Paul asked his sister Sarah to join the band, and Travis approached classmates Shaun Gibson and Josh Litton about joining. The five of them started playing at house parties around Potosi, keeping the original name. In 2002, Shaun quit the band, follwed soon after by Sarah, and then Travis, who left to join the United States Army. In 2005, Paul and Josh moved to St. Louis and met bassist Syrhea Conaway. They played shows at night clubs in St. Louis for about a year before Paul and Josh moved back to Potosi. The band lay mostly defunct until 2009 when Leif Mathis, whom Paul had met in church, asked to join the band and help revive it as a Christian group. With Leif's help, the band completed their first full-length studio album in 2010, titled Building the Dream, which they released at their tenth anniversary show.
