Giovanni Giuffrè

Giovanni Giuffrè (1878 in Corfu - 1965 in Como, Italy) was an Italian-Greek composer and bandleader connected to the Philharmonic Society of Corfu and father of Gaetano Giuffrè.
Biography
Giovanni Giuffrè was a multi-instrumentalist and composer who was a student, teacher and band leader with the Philharmonic Society of Corfu for approximately 7 years. After his time with the Philharmonic Society would later become an attaché to the Nobile Teatro di San Giacomo di Corfù (prior to its subsequent destruction in 1943).
He attended an Italian school in Corfu which was built by the Italian State during the 19th century in the neoclassical style in the centre of the city. It subsequently became a Greek highschool during and after the second World War.
Known compositions
* Petite Tango a Contrepoint, for piano. Which was subsequently re-arranged for string quartet by son, Gaetano Giuffrè.
* Deux Romances Sans Parole, for piano. Revised in 1977 also by son .
