Giga-Tube is JVC's series of high output subwoofer systems available on their former Mini-Systems. Formally referred to by JVC as their "Low Pass Advanced Labrynth Aero Tube Technology", it consists of a vented, bass-reflex subwoofer with a tuned port that is front firing to put out low frequencies with low to no harmonic distortion. Developed in 2001 with the introduction of the MX-GT80, a large-diameter subwoofer and an optimally-tuned duct provides substantial bass and rich, full mids. Since then there have been nine more models featuring this system until recently, in January 2009, JVC retired their last Giga-Tube system, the HX-D77 which marked the 10th generation of the Giga-Tube technology.
